Police Officer Injured, Shots Fired at Berea Walmart

April 29, 2025

We have learned that a heavy police presence at a Kentucky Walmart is due to an officer-involved shooting.

At first we were told that the Berea Police Department was responding to a scene at the Berea Walmart off Exit 76.

According to the Berea Police Department, officers were called to the Walmart for reports of a stolen car.

When they tried to contact the driver of the car, he put it in reverse and hit an officer, pinning him between two cars.

Police say the officer fired a shot into the car to try to stop it. One officer and two others were taken to the hospital for their injuries.

The Berea Police Department says there is no active threat to the public and all suspects are in custody. Walmart is open, but police ask customers to leave space for officers to continue working the scene.

Kentucky State Police is investigating the shooting, per standard procedure.
