Laurel County Sheriff's Office In Search of Fugitive

The Laurel County Sheriff’s Office says one woman is in custody and another suspect is still on the run after a pursuit Friday on Interstate 75.

Deputies say they arrested Taylor Markwell but are still searching for Brandon Woods. Investigators say the pursuit started when a deputy attempted a traffic stop, but the suspect vehicle fled, reaching speeds of over 110 miles per hour.

According to the sheriff’s office, Woods allegedly ran away after the vehicle stopped, while Markwell, a passenger, was arrested at the scene.

Markwell faces charges including possession of methamphetamine, theft, possession of drug paraphernalia, and several other offenses. She is being held in the Laurel County Detention Center.

Woods is wanted on charges including parole violation, fleeing police, drug offenses, and multiple traffic violations.
