Irene Middleton Hobbs, passed away peacefully on April 12, 2025, in Berea, Kentucky. Born on March 11, 1942, in New Trenton, Indiana.
Irene dedicated 37 years of her life to teaching in Jackson County, where she touched the lives of countless students with her knowledge and
kindness. Her commitment to education was evident in her own academic achievements, having earned both her bachelor's and master's degrees
from Eastern Kentucky University.
Irene's passions extended beyond the classroom. She found joy in sewing, quilting, and traveling. Irene's enthusiasm for University of Kentucky
basketball was well-known, and she rarely missed a game.

Family was the cornerstone of Irene's life. She was preceded in death by her loving parents, Coburn and Fannie Eversole Middleton; her devoted
husband, James Edward Hobbs; her siblings, Peggy Lee Allen, Iris Ruth Middleton, Randall Coburn Middleton; and brother-in-law, Carl Seals.
Her legacy lives on through her daughter, Kim Witt and her husband, Brian; her treasured granddaughter, Serena Witt; and her sisters, Phyllis Ann
Cole, Lettie Jane Seals, and Brenda Sue (Don) Hobbs, and several nieces and nephews who will continue to honor her memory.
